TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Home Instead Senior Care wants you to share a meal with a senior.

They're hoping to get you to eat with your older loved ones, by pledging donations to the Meals on Wheels program.

Home Instead is pledging a $1 donation for each person who takes the Sunday Family Dinner Pledge.

Across the nation, they'll donate up to $20,000 to Meals on Wheels, a program that delivers seniors healthy, nutritious meals.

Almost 75% of people in a recent survey said they only sit down for a family meal with senior loved ones for special occasions, events or holidays. That's why Marc Moncrief with Home Instead Senior Care says it's important to make pledges like these.

"The fast majority of seniors are really by themselves, they're alone," Moncrief said.

The Sunday Dinner Pledge program also includes a year's worth of healthy, easy-to-make recipes and shopping guides to help make family meals.
