BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) -- The new year means out with the old and in with the new!
But before you get to chucking all your old items, it's important to know what to keep and what to donate or sell.
Sharon Foulk from Antique Annex in Bainbridge joined us on WTXL Sunrise with some expert advice and other tips.
Foulk says people often don't realize things like cookbooks, tools, fishing lures, stamps and old letters are collectible.
There are plenty of resources to research value of collectibles, including the library, Internet research, eBay or a certified appraiser.
Foulk warns though about looking up something on eBay to see what it's worth. Be sure to check completed auctions so you can see the actual selling price, not just what's being asked.
If you're looking to declutter but don't want to part with a particular item or knick-knack, Foulk showed us some easy and creative ways to repurpose. For example, she glued a tea cup to its saucer and recommends filling it with bird seed and leaving it in your garden. Foulk also showed off a votive candle holder attached to the base of an old light fixture to make something completely new.
The Antique Annex & Gallery is located at 3017 Thomasville Road in Bainbridge.
