TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida State University (FSU) is named one of the top 25 film schools in the U.S.
Ranked 22 out of 25 by The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the school is praised for its new digital arts program, 5,000 square foot facility upgrade and its vfx labs.
According to THR, to assemble this year's list, the magazine toured campuses, met with deans and educators, talked to academic and industry experts and observers, and interviewed scores of alums. The magazine also says they considered several factors when assigning the rankings, including prestige, practical experience, inspirational teachers, potential career connections and access to cutting-edge equipment.
FSU was the only school from Florida that made the list. USC came in first, followed by New York University and American Film Institute.
THR ranked FSU 19th in the 2014 poll after the Television Academy awarded FSU five College Television Awards, more than any other school.
