TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Florida's K-12 Public Schools' Chancellor visited a capitol city elementary school today to read to students and deliver some school supplies.
With help from donations by the State Department of Education employees, Chancellor Hershel Lyons spent the morning with first graders at Pineview Elementary. The supplies included crayons, glue, notebooks, and pencils.
Lyons said that the community support of public schools plays an important role in the success of students. Nearly 2.7 million kids, in more than 42,000 schools, have gone back to class over the past few weeks in Florida.
