TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) - A federal appeals court is scheduled to hear arguments about Governor Rick Scott's attempt to require drug testing as a condition for people receiving public-assistance benefits.
The hearing is set for November 20th. The state is seeking to require drug testing for people who receive welfare benefits under the *temporary assistance for needy families program.
The Scott administration argues that drug use can impede the ability of public-assistance beneficiaries to get jobs and also harms families.
