LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Health officials gave an update on influenza in Leon County.

Claudia Blackburn, a health officer with the Florida Health Department in Leon County, says they've seen a moderate amount of flu in the county.

Often times, the flu comes on suddenly and you get a fever, body aches, and  headaches, making you feel pretty terrible. But getting the flu shot could help prevent the uncomfortable symptoms.

You can still get a flu shot and now is the time to get it. Beware, it takes a couple of weeks for it to kick in and be effective at preventing the flu.

You can get yours at pharmacies, the health department or at your private physician.

The flu is much more serious for the young children, people over 65. other groups with compromised/weak immune systems and pregnant women.
