BOSTON, Ga. (WTXL)--Health clinics in rural areas can be few and far between but now there's one in Boston, Georgia.
People in Boston now have access to healthcare in their own hometown.
Trips to nearby towns may not seem too far but for people like Evette Minto with four children the bills add up.
"That's a lot of gas and gas is high," said Minto.
Minto says she is thrilled she's walking distance from the Boston Family Care Clinic.
"Specialty areas there may be some traveling involved but primary care we're full service for that," said nurse practitioner Michael Forehand.
The clinic and a pharmacy called Thomas Drug Stores opened more than a week ago.
The businesses are inside a historic building Mayor Danny Groover says dates back to the early 1900s. The mayor remodeled it, keeping the building's historic character. After all that's what attracts many people to the town.
"It's a beautiful town very nostalgic and part of my draw to that was the nostalgia," said Forehand.
The mayor says the clinic and pharmacy were much needed.
"I just want to do all I can to help us grow and just continue to be a great place to live," said Mayor Groover.
The mayor says Boston is booming with new businesses in town. He says it's an exciting time for Boston and there's more to look forward to.
