BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) -- Candles are a popular Christmas present, but at The Refinery in Bainbridge, they're the gift that keeps on giving.
The Refinery was established in November 2013 as a way to support Still Waters, a safe place for women and their children in South Georgia.
At the Refinery, women who are staying at Still Waters make hand-poured, environmentally friendly candles.
It's a way to provide job skills and a purpose for women in need.
Organizers say, "our goal is to create something beautiful from regional and recycled resources; to invest in the potential of our ladies and to be an ever-present light in our community."
The Refinery just celebrated its second anniversary, and was able to move to a new location in downtown Bainbridge.
Candles are made on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the group's Bainbridge warehouse. They're then sold at the new downtown store, online and through select local retailers. The profits then support the women working in the shop.
Candles are $20, and are available in 13 scents, plus seasonal additions. Many of the scents are a way to support the Peach State. Even the wick and string on the candle are made from Georgia products.
The Refinery is located at 115 N. West Street in Bainbridge.
