LOWNDES CO., Ga. (WTXL)--A Hahira man dies after a deer crashes through his windshield Wednesday morning.

Georgia State Patrol troopers were called out to Old Clyattville Road just south of Ousley Road at 6:22 a.m. They say 40-year-old Syreeta Necole Thomas was driving a Subaru Legacy north on Old Clyattville Road when a deer entered the road from the east side. Thomas hit the deer with the front end of the car.

The deer then went airborne and hit the windshield of a Nissan pickup truck, driven by 49-year-old Clayton Lee Chandler. The deer exited the truck through the rear glass.

Chandler died at the scene. Thomas was not hurt. Troopers say they were both wearing seat belts. The road was shut down for two hours. No charges are being filed.
