TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - As her term as a congresswoman draws to a close, Gwen Graham has announced that she is continuing her plans to run for Florida Governor in 2018.

Graham was in Tallahassee for her final workday for this term, but said she wants to continue in public service.

She reasserted her intentions while helping to sell Christmas trees at Christmas King off Timberlane Road.

Graham said she never expected to be elected in any capacity. She said she's proud of the work she and her team have done for North Florida over the past six years but she's not done just yet.

She said the sunshine state is ready for change in government and she wants to lead the way.

"I think we desperately need to take the politics out of running the state of Florida and get back to putting plans in place that will preserve the Florida that I was blessed to grow up in and I want to leave for my future grandchildren and everybody's future grandchildren," said Graham.

Graham has a final press conference scheduled for Monday to wrap up her term. Her final day in office is Jan. 3.
