TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - In the wake of the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, there has been an increase in gun sales and residents applying for concealed weapons permits. But, what else can you do if you're confronted with a similar situation?

A Tallahassee gun range is hoping to prepare residents to be in control of their survival by holding a seminar, giving residents a chance to learn what they can do in those situations.

Talon Range, along with law enforcement professionals, teamed up at the Four Points by Sheraton, showing what happens during mass shooting situations.

U.S. Law Shield Estate Manager, Scott Smith, hopes tonight's event will help residents be more aware of their surroundings: "So what we're trying to do is get people to be aware of how to defend themselves whether they're at a store or at a club or whether they're in their own home how to defend themselves."

Wednesday night's event was free to the public. They also had law professionals on hand, showing participants how attorneys navigate the legal aftermath of an incident.

There will be another seminar on July 23rd at the Martial Arts Fitness Academy.
