PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WTXL) - Gulf World Marine Institute has rescued more than 80 sea turtles.
Wildlife officials say the frigid animals may appear dead, but often are still alive. The weather in south Florida has even caused iguanas to fall from their perches in suburban trees.
The institute says when water in shallow bays and estuaries drop below 50 degrees, sea turtles can become shocked.
Rescue groups are searching in the Saint Joe bay area between Panama City and Apalachicola for cold-stunned sea turtles.
