PANACEA, Fla. (WTXL) - The Gulf Specimen Marine Lab is welcoming a new member to the family.
The lab posted a video on their Facebook page earlier today debuting their new turtle, "Lil Herc."
The new sea turtle was transferred to the lab from Sea World.
They said that Lil' Herc" is an adult loggerhead sea turtle who was transferred from Marineland of Florida, St. Augustine on November 8, 1998 to Sea World in Orlando.
Officials with the lab say that now, she will allow them to continue to educate the community on the dangers to sea turtles and the importance of protecting them.
"Lil Herc" was injured from a boat hit and was blinded, which makes her sensitive to noises.
