TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - As part of a ten week project, the Tallahassee Police Department, along with Habitat for Humanity of the Big Bend, are building three 2-bedroom 2-bath houses for those who do not have a home.
"Just to have a place to call your home and a place to call your home," said Cynthia Barber, Assistant City Manager of Community Engagement. "It's one thing to fund it but its another thing to actually get out here and work side by side with our neighbors and other members of the community to make it happen for people who might not otherwise be able to get a home."
Another group all the way from Philadelphia joined the effort to build homes in the Capital City Friday. Bike and Build is an organization that travels from city to city, often 70 miles a day, to build homes for those in need.
"It really hits home for me, everyone needs a home and I think that's a number one priority to move forward in life," said Matt Gleason, Leader of Bike and Build.
Bike and Build are leaving for Marianna on Sunday.
