TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee school that serves students with intellectual disabilities unveils plans to create a recreation space for students and the neighborhood.
A project a decade in the making got the best of Brett Ketchum. His son goes to Gretchen Everhart School, reaching students with disabilities from seven counties.
Tuesday, the Everhart Excellence Foundation and the school announced plans for "Owl Landing", a park tailored for Everhart's older students.
"Owl Landing" will be built on this field adjacent to the school but it's across the street from the scene of a murder last week. The principal says despite this recent incident, she does not believe safety will be a concern.
A special project, coming to exceptional students.
The project is close to being fully funded. The goal is to start construction next month and to complete "Owl Landing" before classes start in the fall.
