TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A new store opened its doors in Tallahassee on Thursday.
GreenWise Market by Publix opened Thursday at 625 West Gaines Street in Tallahassee near Florida State and Florida A&M University.
It will include a beverage bar that serves kombucha, local craft beer, wine, smoothies and locally-roasted coffee, as well as a large mezzanine where customers can eat and connect.
Customers shopping at the store Thursday say they are excited it's finally open.
"I'm super excited for more affordable options for students to eat healthy and be more conscious about their shopping," said Phoebe Barnes.
The store also features a mixed media mural by Tallahassee artist Charity Myers.
GreenWise Market will offer a variety of prepared foods featuring antibiotic-free meats, organic cheeses and vegan items.
In addition to prepared items, customers can find local and organic fruits and vegetables, body care, natural vitamins and supplements, bulk items, and local and unique products.
Lakeland based Publix introduced the retail concept in 2007 as Publix GreenWise Market, designed to compete against natural and organic food retailers like Whole Foods Market.
