LOWNDES COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The fourth must-see stop in Lowndes County is the Grand Bay Wetland Education Center.

The mission of Grand Bay Wetland Education Center (GBWEC) is to teach students about natural processes and relationships between plants and animals. Students can began to feel a positive connection with the natural world and their place in caring for the environment.

GBWEC offers education programs, field trips, and accredited teacher training. The center also offers a 1/2 mile boardwalk, a 54 foot tower and an education center.

The educational focus of the center is on wetland ecology, wildlife, plant identification, air quality, and plant adaptations.

GBWEC is a partnership between the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Coastal Plains Regional Educational Service Agency.

You can find the park at 4661 Knights Academy Road in Valdosta. Their hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
