TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Tuesday evening, three-time Grammy winning band, "Alabama Shakes" along with Grammy winner Corinne Bailey Rae will take the stage at Cascades Park.
City officials said that they and several other artists are part of the huge week ahead for the city's amphitheater. On Friday, Tallahassee will have its first "Florida Jazz and Blues Festival", which will include 3 days of concerts by international, national, and regional artists.
There will be ticketed concerts on all 3 days and there will be free concerts Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Single-day tickets and 3-day passes for the festival range from $15 to $120 dollars.
Executive Director of Leon County Tourism Development, Kerri Post said acts like these are huge for the city.
"From a tourism perspective music festivals and concerts are great motivators for travel, so our goal is to bring in acts that only have appeal to residents but will also bring in out of town visitors," said Post.
They said that the headliners include Count Basie Orchestra, Rebirth BRass Band of New Orleans, and the Freddy Cole Quartet (led by the brother of Nat King Cole).
The festival also will feature tribute performances by jazz artists from Florida State and Florida A&M universities in honor of Tallahassee jazz legends Nat and Cannonball Adderly.
