TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Saying she too was a victim of sexual harassment "a long time ago," Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham announced a package of ethics proposals in the state capital Thursday.
Graham says she suspects nearly every woman has been harassed at some point in her life and now is the time for women to feel safe in coming forward. She hopes lawmakers can learn from the past and make everyone feel safe in the workplace.
Graham says the state must have an independent official to handle harassment complaints across all levels of state government.
"There is a sexual harassment epidemic across state government," said Graham. "To restore public confidence, we need a statewide effort, spearheaded from the very top."
Graham again called for embattled state senator Jack Latvala to resign, in the wake of sexual harassment allegations.
