GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - On Thursday night Grady County farmers will get an update on peanut production in their county.
That information will come from the "University of Georgia Extension Office" which hosts several "production updates" during the winter months.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Grady County Agriculture Center.
In addition to production news, those who attend will also hear about new varieties, and any on-going research.
Growers in the county need these updates so they can be more productive and aware of potential changes in the coming season.
"Something may have gone on in the state that may not necessarily have been a huge thing in Grady County this past year. The specialists come, and since they cover the state, they'll have that information and knowledge and share that with Grady County growers so they might be prepared for something like that to happen here," said Grady County Extension Agent, Ty Torrance.
Attendance at this meeting gives farmers a credit toward pesticide licenses.
It's expected that about 50 Grady County growers and agriculture-related entities will be at the meeting.
