CAIRO, Ga. (WTXL)--Grady County volunteer firefighters now have a brand new set of tools to rescue people.
Grady County Volunteer Fire Department Chief Richard Phillips and Seth Maxwell wrote a grant request for set of hydraulic rescue tools.
They were awarded the tools, valued at $22, 252, at no cost to the department. Jeff Whimby, the president of Georgia Fire and Rescue, and Dean King were in Cairo on Tuesday to present the tools to Chief Phillips and the Grady County Board of Commissioners.
The tools can be used to cut people out of cars to save their lives.
