TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - We introduced you to local muralist Kollet Probst in March when she painted Rosie the Rivetter on the Garages on Gaines Street.
Since then Probst has been busy adding color throughout Tallahassee.
In March, talking about her Rosie the Riveter piece, Probst said her next goal would be getting help from children.
So when she saw how big this project would be, she partnered with Fun for Tally Kids to make that happen.
Dream... You're Going to be amazing... and Spaghetti?
That's what you get when you have a blank wall, paint, and a child.
"I wanted them to have complete creative freedom to do whatever inspired them and whatever came with positivity for them," Probst said.
And now 57 kids can say that they left their mark on Tallahassee's newest mural, right on the side of the Grace Mission CHurch Soup Kitchen.
"It'll have an impact on people every single day because people drive by here and they'll see that people actually took the time to create this wonderful mural for people to see," said Taylor Hansen, a student helper.
The mural is adding some inspiration and fun to those down on their luck.
"I saw an opportunity to have a conversation with my kids about what soup kitchens do for the community and who they help and in having that conversation, my kids got behind me on the project," Probst said. "So I said, I think we should run with this."
And run she did. Probst partnered with Fun 4 Tally Kids, getting 57 children between the ages of 2 and 16.
"The young girl that did this one, her grandparents are deaf, so she did the sign language for love," Probst said.
A project that started off as something fun for kids quickly turned into so much more.
"It's made me realize that there can be a much deeper meaning to art than just painting something out of the ordinary or random," said Hansen.
At first glance, maybe a hand coming out the green pot seems odd, but remember there's a story behind everything.
Probst is unveiled her design Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Grace Mission Church Soup Kitchen.
