GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - Many farmers spend the winter months cleaning and repairing equipment, buying seeds, and preparing for the upcoming growing season.
For some, this includes applying for loans from the Farm Service Agency or FSA.
Since the shutdown, these offices have been closed, delaying the process for the loans.
"They have all the programs, low interest loans so farmers apply and have operating loans," said Ty Torrance, Grady County Extension Agent. "A lot of that process is happening right now and will be until the end of the season. Really that's the only inconvenience is turning in that paperwork."
The USDA reopened select FSA offices Thursday, Friday, and next Tuesday. These offices are providing limited services to farmers and ranchers.
