TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Governor Ron DeSantis called for the immediate resignations of all governing board members of the South Florida Water Management District.

The announcement was made during a stop in Stuart to discuss the governor's major water policy reforms to protect and improve Florida's water resources.

"One of the recommendations that Congressman Mast has provided to me was that we really need a fresh start at the South Florida Water Management District and so today I have sent correspondence to all of the board members, thanking them for their service but requesting their resignation," said DeSantis. "Yeah the campaigns over, a lot of politicians forget what they promised during the campaign, when I say things I mean them, so I'm coming here today to follow through with what I said I would do."

Earlier Thursday, DeSantis issued an executive order to address problems with algae that have plagued the state.
