TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has unveiled his budget plan for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
At the Capital Friday morning, DeSantis released that $91.3 billion dollar spending plan, which is more than two percent higher than the current state budget.
That plan allots money for school safety, education reform, and the environment.
Governor DeSantis said the proposal will use the tax payer dollars wisely.
"I said throughout the campaign, Florida being a low tax state, I think has been integral to our success and our growth," said DeSantis. "We want people who are working hard here to be able to live without being taxed excessively and we want to send a good signal to rest of the country that Florida is a good place to invest and move to, because you're going to be treated fairly."
DeSantis also said some of the items in the budget will require policy change such as an overhaul to the Best and Brightest Program.
