VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Gornto Road in Valdosta is closed.
Around 8 a.m. on February 28, the Valdosta engineering Department began the procedure of closing the portion of the road at the Earl Wetherington Foot Bridge and near the YMCA.
The closure is due to exceeding water levels of the Sugar Creek, and it will last for an undetermined time period.
The Engineering Department is also in constant contact with the Lowndes County EMA regarding information on the Withlacoochee River crest activity.
