TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Goodwill Industries partnered with One Blood, mobile donor units, to increase local donations.
One Blood placed mobile units at Goodwill stores on Saturday to raise blood. The advantage of the donor event is that the donations to the units will be kept local.
Goodwill donations already go towards free job placement and training for local community members.
In addition to blood donations, One Blood checked blood pressure, iron levels, and completed cholesterol screenings.
One donor explained why they decided to give blood.
Tracy Kenney said, "You never know when you're going to need help and maybe need a blood transfusion or save somebody's life or your life be saved too. It's nice to come out and help and get gifts like this every time you come out and you're saving three lives so why not take an hr of your day and come and help."
Donors received coupons at participating Goodwill stories.
