QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) - Goodwill opened a new, larger retail store and Career Training Center Friday morning in Quincy.
Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc. celebrated the big opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony and community event.
The new 10,000 square foot store, located at 1503 West Jefferson Street, is across the street from McDonalds.
The store will welcome 25 new employees and is carrying all sizes of clothing, furniture, housewares, books and more.
The new location also serves as a Career Training Center, featuring computer labs and classes, job development and training, resume writing and GED prep at no charge.
The Center will also assist ex-offenders re-entering into society, by partnering with the Gadsden Re-Entry Center to give ex-offenders paid, temporary jobs at a Goodwill location, while a Goodwill Employment Specialist helps them look for long-term jobs in the community.
"We are deeply committed to serving our community and assisting community members in overcoming barriers to employment," said Fred Shelfer, CEO of Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc., "This new larger store and Career Training Center allows Goodwill to continue its mission through job creation, and the free services offered at this location."
To celebrate the grand opening, Goodwill is featuring specials and door buster discounts throughout the weekend. Also, the first 100 customers on Friday 2/27 and Saturday 2/28 will receive a 30% off coupon.
