Godby High Student Arrested with Gun on Campus

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A 14-year-old has been arrested after deputies said that teachers found a gun and bullets in the student's backpack.

Friday morning, Godby High School staff were searching earphones that were reported stolen. The Leon County Sheriff's Office said that, in looking for the earphones, the staff did an administrative search on the 14-year-old's backpack.

When they did, they found an unloaded gun and a round of bullets. 

Deputies said that the staff followed protocol and turned the gun over to the deputy on campus. 

The boy arrested and faces charges related to having a gun on school property.

The investigation is ongoing to figure out how and where the 14-year-old got the gun.
