(WTXL) - The Girl Scouts of America is adding more journeys and badges geared toward STEM fields of study.

Girls will be able to learn more about engineering and computer science.

The badges include robotics and space science.

Organizers say the new programs and badges help girls empower themselves to unleash their inner strengths to accomplish goals.

"Women only make up 29 percent of people in the science and math industry," said Tiffany Simmons of the Girl Scout Council of the Florida Panhandle, "and we want to bridge that gap and the younger generation is more interested in it so if we can start teaching them younger then they'll be more educated to do it in the future."

These new badges just arrived Tuesday, so the girls will soon be able to start earning them.
