Girl, 15, Arrested for Bomb Threats Called to Keys Schools

MARATHON, Fla. (AP) — A 15-year-old girl faces several charges after authorities say she called in a bomb threat to her two schools in the Florida Keys.

Monroe County Sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin says deputies arrest the girl Friday at Marathon High School for assisting in making bomb threats to Marathon High and Key West High in December.

Herrin says the Dec. 14 call to Key West High School was made in error because the other person thought the girl was a student there. Then the second call was made to Marathon High, where the girl attends classes.

The schools were evacuated and Key West officials canceled classes for the day.

Herrin says the girl told a number of stories about how she met the person who phoned in the threat. An investigation continues.
