TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Mayor Andrew Gillum is calling Trump's healthcare plan "disastrous" and says Governor Rick Scott's "complicity in the development of this devastating plan is unacceptable."
Mayor Andrew Gillum released this statement today:
“President Donald Trump’s healthcare plan is disastrous and Governor Rick Scott’s complicity in the development of this devastating plan is unacceptable. Nearly 1.8 million Floridians stand to lose their healthcare by 2026 and it slashes Medicaid and Medicare. Hundreds of thousands of seniors will pay more for coverage and women who rely on Planned Parenthood will be denied coverage. This is a tax cut for millionaires that cuts healthcare for millions and raises costs on everyone else. When I’m Governor of Florida, I’ll make sure healthcare is a right, and not a privilege, in the Sunshine State.”
This statement comes right as Trump's healthcare plan is being put on the House floor for a showdown vote.
He released this video on Twitter Thursday:
According to the Associated Press, Trump has been urging Republican leaders on the fence to cast their vote to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
What do you think of what they have to say?
