TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A new principal has been appointed at Gilchrist Elementary School after the former principal was placed on administrative leave for being in a relationship with a teacher.
David Solz, the former principal of Gilchrist Elementary School, was placed on administrative leave after school officials were alerted he was in a consensual relationship with a teacher.
According spokesman Chris Petley, Scotty Crowe is being named the new principal of Gilchrist Elementary for the foreseeable future. He says the investigation into Solz is still pending.
Crowe is not a new face at Gilchrist Elementary. He served as principal there from 2005 to 2008. Crowe was most recently the principal of Deerlake Middle for the last year and a half.
In other new staffing changes announced Monday by Leon County Schools, Stephen Mills is being appointed as the new principal of Deerlake Middle.
Mills served as the Deerlake assistant principal from 2010 to 2017 and most recently was the assistant principal at Godby High School.
Both will begin their new appointments immediately.

Solz was appointed principal at Gilchrist Elementary on July 1, 2009 and has been teaching for over 20 years.
