GILCHRIST COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Gilchrist County School District is closed after receiving a threat Thursday night.
The district says they received the emailed threat around 8 p.m. Thursday night.
Due to the short notice, officials say they were unable to confirm how legitimate the threat was, so they opted to close schools.
"In light of the recent incident in Broward County, and out of abundance of caution, we will be closing school tomorrow, February 16th in order to ensure the safety of our students and staff," officials wrote in a social media post.
School officials are working with law enforcement to determine the authenticity of the threat.
