ATLANTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) says the championship football game set to be played at the Mercedes Benz Stadium on Friday has been postponed.
GHSA made the announcement on Friday. saying that the game has been postponed due to worsening weather conditions.
All of Friday's games have been rescheduled for next weekend, though no specific date has been set:
Saturday's game between the Clinch County Panthers and the Irwin County Indians has also been rescheduled.
The Colquitt County Packers will still play on Saturday at 8 p.m. against the North Gwinnett Bulldogs and all other Saturday games are still anticipated to be played as scheduled.
Gates at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium will open Saturday at 3 p.m.
According to the GHSA's website, the games that can't be played this weekend will be played either December 15 or 16 at the highest-seeded team's field.
That means the Clinch vs. Irwin game will be played in Irwin County.
GHSA says that tickets and ticket stubs for postponed games will be honored at the championship games next weekend.
