ATLANTA, Ga. (WTXL)- A new law legalizes consumer fireworks sales on July 1.
Fireworks can only be sold or purchased by people 18 years or older, cannot be used indoors, and can only be used between 10 a.m. and midnight under the new law.
On July 4, however, they can be used until 2:00 a.m.
Lowndes County officials say its important to use fireworks safely, since local selections will now include options that have the potential to cause serious harm to people and property if not handled properly.
