Chula,Ga.(WTXL)--The Tift County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call in the 1200 block of Hope Road in Chula,Ga Saturday evening.
Sheriff Gene Scarbrough of TCSO reports that two people were shot. One victim was wounded in the back and the other was shot in the leg and hand, both victims were taken to a local a hospital were they remain.
According investigators the cause of the shooting was over wages that was disputed between a resident in the 1217 Zion Hope Road and the suspect Rodney Bruce Bennett 58 who resides next door at 1204 Zion Hope Road.
A criminal trespass report was filled on Saturday around noon where the suspect Bennett alleged that someone had driven across his yard. He alleged in the report that one of the residents of 1214 Zion Hope Road was the offender.
Witness told Investigators on Saturday that Bennett bought a twelve gauge shotgun and ammunition. A short time after his purchased is when the shooting happened.
Bennett is in the Tift County Jail under several charges including our counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission f a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a host of other charges.
