THOMASVILLE, Ga.-- The Thomasville Police Department (TPD) will be cracking down on reckless and dangerous drivers during the Christmas holiday weekend.

TPD officers will be on the lookout for those driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.  They will also be ticketing people who violate other laws, such as driving on a suspended license, no insurance, and other alcohol violations.

"There are a lot people in town visiting family and we want everyone to be safe and to return home safely," Community Relations Lieutenant Eric Hampton wrote in a release.

He  adds that motorists should be on the lookout for children playing in neighborhoods, and parents are urged to supervise children and not allow them to play or bicycles in areas where vehicles are traveling.

Lt. Hampton says that TPD receives also a lot of a lot of calls about basketball goals in the street, and that they say this be shouldn't be allowed by parents who purchase goals for their children.
