THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) -- Dozens of residents gathered to show thanks and appreciation for emergency response workers in the wake of the Jan. 22 tornado outbreak in South Georgia.
First responders and emergency staff from Thomas, Grady, and other surrounding counties were honored at the Butler Mason YMCA on Remington Avenue with a luncheon Saturday afternoon.
The event, organized by Fran Latner, recognized the individuals involved in response and clean-up in an effort to ensure public safety after the severe weather event.
Door prizes were also given to select attendees.
WTXL chief meteorologist Casanova Nurse was one of the invited guests, who, event coordinators say, was a critical source of information during the early-morning tornado warnings.
