BUFORD, Ga. (AP) - Gwinnett County Police say a park ranger who was shot in his stomach was wounded by the same bullet that killed a suicidal woman.

D.P. Wright, a ranger for the Army Corps of Engineers at Lower Buford Dam Park, was shot the night of June 26 when he went to tell a 34-year-old woman sitting in truck that the park was closed.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Jake Smith says investigators found a single bullet casing on the scene. Authorities have been probing the possibility that the woman and 70-year-old ranger were both wounded by a single bullet since the shooting.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Monday that Wright's family expects him to be discharged from the hospital sometime this week.
