Police fear gunman may be targeting homeless

Posted

ATLANTA (AP) — After two men were shot and killed as they slept outside in Atlanta, police say it appears that a gunman is targeting homeless people as they sleep at night.

Atlanta police say the latest killing happened late Tuesday or early Wednesday near White Hall Street and Northside Drive, when a homeless man curled up in a blanket was shot multiple times as he slept.

Police Det. David Quinn tells WSB-TV that another man, also likely homeless, was found dead Sunday after being shot repeatedly while sleeping near Ralph McGill Boulevard and Courtland Street.

Police Capt. Paul Geurrucci said it appears that someone is targeting people as they sleep outside at night, which greatly concerns police.

Quinn was warning homeless people about the shootings as he revisited the crime scenes recently.
