ROME, Ga. (AP) - A man convicted of murder will spend the rest of his life in prison.
The Rome News-Tribune (http://bit.ly/1EX3yIR ) reports 33-year-old Christopher Rayshun Smith was sentenced to life in prison without parole with an additional 45 years attached Tuesday in Floyd County Superior Court by Judge Bryant Durham. Smith was recently convicted of the murder charge.
Smith's attorney, Roger Curry, says he'll be filing a motion for a new trial on his client's behalf.
Smith was arrested with 27-year-old Jamarrcus Sullivan and 23-year-old Antonio Jones in the June 2013 robbery and fatal shooting of Kevin Daniel. Sullivan was convicted in the same case and received a similar sentence.
District Attorney Leigh Patterson says Jones has yet to be tried and there is no date set for him.
