MARTINEZ, Ga. (AP) - A Columbia County sheriff's deputy has been fired after being accused of driving under the influence.

The Augusta Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1E79ieY ) reports 28-year-old Christopher Cody Connor was pulled over Monday night in Martinez. In a news release, a deputy says Connor was speeding and unable to stay in the lane. Connor admitted to having a few drinks and refused all standardized field sobriety tests.

Connor was booked into the Columbia County Detention Center on charges of a DUI, speeding, failure to maintain lane and expired registration. He was released on bond.

Columbia County sheriff's deputy Capt. Steve Morris says Connor was fired Tuesday morning.

It is unclear if Connor has a lawyer.
