ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia officials are expanding an Atlanta morgue to prepare for deadly tragedies such as the Orlando nightclub shooting.

WSB-TV (http://2wsb.tv/1VZDw0b ) reports that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's chief medical examiner wants to expand the morgue to help answer questions during investigations more quickly.

Chief medical examiner Dr. Jonathan Eisenstat says the morgue also needs more room because overall deaths are up due to drug overdoses.

The expansion includes the addition of a Lodox machine to scan X-ray images in seconds inside of hours. Eisenstat says the machine will allow medical examiners to see if there are any injuries on the body.

The morgue can hold 50 bodies and the expansion will allow the morgue to hold an additional 60.
