Ga. woman held without bond in fatal fire

Posted

MACON, Ga. (AP) - Macon police say a woman arrested on murder charges after her children died in a house fire lied about where she was when the blaze began.

Colethia Williams initially said she was returning from a nearby store when a fire tore through her house and killed three of her children. A fourth child was critically injured and was hospitalized in a burn unit.

Police say in a second interview 29-year-old Williams told investigators she lied and was at her boyfriend's house when the fire started. Authorities say she also gave police an incorrect name for her boyfriend.

The Telegraph of Macon reports Williams was in court Thursday, is being held without bond and is set to appear in court March 29.

Williams says she'll look for an attorney.
