AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - One of five teens who escaped from an Augusta juvenile detention center in October has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Wayne Johnson pleaded guilty to theft and escape in Richmond County Superior Court Thursday. The teen entered a no contest plea to charges of fleeing or attempting to elude and officer, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving without a license.
Authorities say 19-year-old Johnson is the oldest of the group of teens who climbed a barbed-wire fence and escaped the facility on Oct. 19. Authorities say the teens stole a car and led police on a chase.
The Augusta Chronicle reports Johnson is ordered to serve 10 years of probation after his sentence.
