MILLEN, Ga. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that claimed the life of a teenage boy in the east Georgia town of Millen.
Fire officials say the blaze was reported around 5 a.m. Sunday at a mobile home on U.S. 25.
Glenn Allen, a spokesman for the state fire marshal's office, said 14-year-old Joshua Christopher Trent Buckley was found dead in a bedroom. Allen said the boy was the only one home at the time. An autopsy has been scheduled on his body.
Allen said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, and that investigators are looking at a space heater in the bedroom where the boy was found as a possible cause.
Millen is about 50 miles south of Augusta.
