ATLANTA (AP) - Gov. Nathan Deal says he's confident the state will weather the shutdown of the federal government without disruption as long as it's resolved by the end of the month.
Deal told reporters Wednesday that most of Georgia's programs are funded with state money, and reiterated that entitlement programs funded by the federal government will continue.
Deal says the state is also making arrangements to ensure that state employees whose salaries and benefits are paid for with federal funds are able to continue with their health insurance.
In terms of the state's new federally run health exchange, Deal says he's not surprised people reported trouble logging onto the system during Tuesday's launch.
Deal says he's hopeful those issues will be worked out soon and that the exchanges will become more functional.
