CLARKESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a sheriff and deputy were shot while responding to a domestic violence call at a home in northeastern Georgia where one person was found dead and two more later died.

Officials arrived around 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the home outside of Clarkesville. Rusty Andrews with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation tells WSB-TV (http://bit.ly/1a2mE4e ) officers found a woman dead in the garage. He says when officers entered the house to check for other victims, "it appears they were ambushed."

Habersham County Manager Phil Sutton says Sheriff Joey Terrell and Deputy Bill Zigan were shot and hospitalized. A State Patrol spokesman says their injuries "don't appear serious."

Investigators say the suspect in the woman's killing is dead and a second man was found dead outside the home. The circumstances of their deaths were not immediately clear.
