ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta city officials say they're partnering with the city's school district to install cameras that will identify drivers who illegally pass stopped school buses.
Officials said in a statement Tuesday that the cameras will be mounted on the stop arms of buses and will help police pursue drivers who illegally pass them.
Mayor Kasim Reed says the cameras are expected to cut the number of drivers who illegally pass school buses and also hold them accountable.
City officials say Atlanta Public Schools will pay for the installation and maintenance of the cameras.
